Welcome to the Siddhartha Yoga FAQ page! Here, you'll find answers to some of the most common questions regarding our unique approach to yoga and mindfulness, with a specific focus on our online sessions.

General Yoga Practice

What is the best time to practice yoga?

The ideal practice time is before breakfast, early in the morning. However, evenings before dinner and afternoons before lunch can also work well.

Where should I practice yoga for online sessions?

Choose a clean, quiet, and well-ventilated space in your home with enough room to move freely. Ideally, find a comfortable spot with minimal distractions.

Should I shower or bathe before or after online yoga sessions?

Showering or using the restroom beforehand is recommended.

How long should I wait after eating to participate in online yoga sessions?

Wait at least 3 hours after a heavy meal and 2 hours after a light meal before practicing yoga postures (asanas).

Can I eat after online yoga sessions?

Yes, you can eat after 15 minutes of finishing your practice.

How long should my online yoga session be?

We offer a variety of online session lengths to fit your schedule. Check our class descriptions for details, but generally, a good starting point is 30-45 minutes. Consistency is key! Aim to practice regularly, even if it's for a shorter duration.

What should I wear for online yoga sessions?

Light, comfortable clothing that allows for free movement is ideal. Consider wearing clothes that let you see your body alignment during the practice.

Do I breathe through my nose or mouth during online yoga sessions?

Breathe deeply and rhythmically through your nose while practicing asanas.

Should I keep my eyes closed during online yoga sessions?

We recommend closing your eyes to focus inward during most of the practice. However, feel free to open them occasionally if you need to check your alignment or surroundings.

Online Yoga Session Specifics

What equipment do I need for online yoga sessions?

A yoga mat is ideal, but a towel or rug on a carpeted surface can work in a pinch. You may also want to have a yoga block or two and a strap on hand for some poses, but these are not essential.

What technology do I need for online yoga sessions?

A computer, tablet, or phone with a stable internet connection is required to participate in our live online sessions.

How will I be guided during online yoga sessions?

Our online sessions are led by me, Chow Siddhartha, a PhD-qualified Yoga Therapist. I will provide clear instructions, modifications for different abilities, and answer any questions you may have throughout the session.

Are online yoga sessions effective?

Absolutely! Online yoga offers a convenient and accessible way to experience the many benefits of yoga, including improved flexibility, strength, stress reduction, and mindfulness.

I am a beginner in Yoga, is a live online platform right for me?

Online yoga can be a fantastic option for beginners! Here's why:

  • Convenience and Accessibility: Practice from the comfort of your own home on your own schedule. No need to worry about commuting to a studio or fitting a class into your busy day.

  • Beginner-Friendly Classes: We offer specifically designed classes for beginners that focus on foundational poses, alignment, and breathing techniques. You'll learn the essential building blocks of yoga in a safe and supportive environment.

  • See and Repeat: You can easily see and follow along with the instructor's demonstrations in real-time. Having a visual reference can be incredibly helpful when learning new poses.

  • Modify at Your Pace: The beauty of online yoga is that you can modify poses to suit your limitations and comfort level without feeling self-conscious. There's no pressure to keep up with others – you can listen to your body and adjust as needed.

However, if you have any pre-existing health conditions or injuries, it's always a good idea to consult a doctor before starting any new exercise program, including online yoga.
